BEN CLOSE

Born on 8 August 1996 in Portsmouth. Ben is a midfielder who has come through Pompey's youth system. In October 2013, he was selected as one of the top eleven apprentices in the country. Ben earned his first professional deal for the 2014-15 season and signed his most recent 2-year extension in April 2019, with the club holding an option for another year. 

Ben made his senior first team debut as a substitute in the 3-1 win at Yeovil Town (JPT) on 2 September 2014. He has a habit of scoring spectacular goals. 

One of Pompey's most popular players, Ben left Pompey after the end of the 2020-21 season when he was unable to agree a new contract. He subsequently signed for Doncaster Rovers.
