GARY ROBERTS
19/08/2017 11:23Born on 18 March 1984 in Liverpool. Gary is a winger who began his career as an Academy player at Liverpool before playing in the youth sides at Welsh clubs Denbigh Town and Bala Town. He then played senior football at Rhyl, Bangor City (Wales) and Welshpool Town before signing for Accrington Stanley in 2005. Gary joined Ipswich Town in January 2007 after a spell there on loan. After a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra, he then signed for Huddersfield Town in August 2008. Gary made over 160 appearances for the Terriers, leaving them in June 2012 after which he joined Swindon Town. He then signed for Chesterfield in June 2013 where he linked up for the first time with Paul Cook. Gary joined Pompey on a three-year deal on 17 June 2015. He left the club by mutual consent on 8 August 2017.
Gary appeared four times for England C whilst at Accrington. He is now first team coach at Chesterfield, working with former Pompey boss Paul Cook.
