Born on 10 November 1964 in Evesham.

It was as a striker at Portsmouth that Guy made himself a force to be reckoned with. Affectionately known as 'Corporal Punishment', Guy scored 42 league goals in the 1992-93 season (a club record) and 99 in total over three spells at the club (one on loan).

As a manager, Guy has been at Newport (IW) and AFC Newbury but left both clubs when they ran into financial difficulties. He became development coach at Fratton Park in January 2009.

Guy's first stint as caretaker manager began on 14 August 2011 when Steve Cotterill left Pompey to become manager of Nottingham Forest. He shared the position with Stuart Gray. His second stint as caretaker commenced on 7 November 2012 after Michael Appleton left to become manager of Blackpool. The position became permanent on 24 April 2013 after Pompey were officially taken over by the PFC Trust.

Guy was sacked as manager on 25 November 2013 after a poor run of results and performances left the club in 18th position in League Two.
